Kathryn Garrett ’10 of Indianapolis earned a Juris Doctor degree from Indiana University’s Robert H. McKinney School of Law.

Erica Hedges ’10 of Hoffman Estates, Ill., is an assistant athletic trainer for Dominican University in River Forest, Ill., and has been invited to travel with the U.S. Women’s Soccer Team. She is assigned to Dominican by Athletico Physical Therapy of the Chicago area. She is studying for a master’s degree in kinesiology and sport psychology at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb.

Katie Hileman ’10 and Aaron Foster ’11 of South Bend, Ind., welcomed a daughter, Charlotte Ruth, on Aug. 30, 2013.

Kristi Sattison ’10 McCart of Riverview, Fla., is an associate with Osenton Law Offices PA in Brandon, Fla. She earned a Juris Doctor degree at Whittier Law School in Orange County, Calif., and is a member of The Florida Bar. Her practice areas include family, same-sex couples and special education law, special needs planning, adoptions, estate planning, probate and bankruptcy.

Elizabeth Miller ’10 of Erie, Pa., is a prosthetic and orthotic specialist for Geauga Rehabilitation Engineering Inc. She holds national certification in athletic training and is a licensed athletic trainer in Ohio.

Elizabeth Weybright ’10 of Claypool, Ind., is a certified athletic trainer for Kosciusko Community Hospital in Warsaw, Ind.

Ryan Adams ’11 and Chaitra Jewell ’11 of Akron, Ind., married Aug. 25, 2013. Chaitra is a K-3 special education teacher and Ryan teaches second grade for Akron Elementary School.

Haley Johnson ’11 and Humphrey Bwire Nagila ’12 of Indianapolis married Nov. 3, 2012.

Kelly Fogle ’11 of Muncie, Ind., is studying for a Ph.D. in educational (school) psychology with a concentration in neuropsychology at Ball State University, where she earned a master’s degree in clinical psychology in July 2013. She is a graduate assistant for the Department of Psychological Science at Ball State.

Abel Mengistu ’11 of Mountain View, Calif., is a software engineer for Google in the greater San Francisco Bay area.

Brooke Walters ’11 and Benjamin Tapper ’12 of Indianapolis married Aug. 3, 2013.

Natalie Collar ’12 of Fort Wayne, Ind., is teaching English in rural Japan and loving all the nature opportunities in the foothills of the southern Alps. She completed the Kyoto marathon earlier this year and has taken up hilly trail running with new friends.

Hajer Dlame ’12 of Fort Wayne, Ind., is an interaction developer for Brotherhood Mutual Insurance Co.

Casey Loshe ’12 and Ben Ogden ’12 of Fort Wayne, Ind., married July 2, 2012. Casey teaches special education for Northwest Elementary School in Decatur, Ind. Ben is studying for his teaching license at Indiana Wesleyan University and substitute teaching.

Heather Johnson ’12 and Matthew Linn ’12 of Fort Wayne, Ind., married July 13, 2013. Matthew is studying for a master’s degree in biological sciences at Bowling Green State University.

Jamie Murray ’12 of Hamlet, Ind., is a staff accountant with Susan M. Miller CPA LLC in Granger, Ind.

Veronica Schilb, ’12 of Fort Wayne, Ind., is a legislative assistant for Indiana Gov. Mike Pence after serving as a Governor’s Fellow for Pence and Gov. Mitch Daniels. Hoosier Access has named her to its “Top 25 Under 25 in Indiana Politics.” Hoosier Access seeks to advance conservative politics and positions to elected state and national officials.

Anisa Adam ’13 of North Manchester is working on an International Business Administration degree at North Central College in Naperville, Ill., where she has a graduate assistantship in admissions.

Nicolas Barbknecht ’13 of Indianapolis is an assistant commissioner for the Indiana Department of Labor.

Stephanie Barras ’13 of Indianapolis is serving a Brethren Volunteer Service assignment with OKC Abrašević (Youth Cultural Centre) in Mostar, Bosnia-Herzegovina.

Keyana Fitzpatrick ’13 of Merrillville, Ind., begins service in February with AmeriCorps NCCC Winter FEMA Corps 2014 at the Southwest Region Campus in Denver, Colo. FEMA Corps is engaged in disaster preparedness, response and recovery.

Dylan Ford ’13 of Tipton, Ind., is serving a Brethren Volunteer Service assignment at Su Casa, a Chicago house of hospitality in the Catholic Worker tradition that provides a space of healing and hope to displaced Latino families.

Kay Guyer ’13 of Woodbury, Pa., is Kaleidoscope coordinator for youth and young adults with Brethren Mennonite Council for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Interests, an international social justice organization based in Minneapolis. She is serving with Lutheran Volunteer Corps.

Whitnee Hidalgo ’13 of St. Clair, Mich., is café and development co-manager for Sisters of the Road in the Old Town/Chinatown neighborhood of Portland, Ore., through Brethren Volunteer Service.

Christopher Kimmel ’13 of Eaton, Ohio is a management trainee for The Kroger Co. in Cincinnati.

Andrew Kurtz ’13 of Plymouth, Ind., is serving a Brethren Volunteer Service assignment in Northern Ireland with Quaker Cottage, which serves Belfast-area mothers and their children who have experienced trauma or are having difficulties coping with the day-to-day management of their homes.

Ian Petty ’13 of Livonia, Mich., is a financial manager for Metro Group Management Corp. in Keego Harbor, Mich. The company provides condominium management services.

Jeremy Pogorzelski ’13 of Crown Point, Ind., is a financial advisor at Western & Southern Life Insurance Co. in Valparaiso, Ind.

Elizabeth J. Rhoades ’13 of Goshen, Ind., is employed with Oaklawn Psychiatric Center in Elkhart County, Ind., and is enrolled in the advanced standing Master of Social Work program of Indiana University-South Bend.

Julien Kouami ’01 of Kentwood, Mich., is a research manager for the Johnson Center for Philanthropy at Grand Valley State University in Grand Rapids. His 86-year-old mother, Eugenie Adon Brou, traveled from the Ivory Coast to watch her son receive his Ph.D. from Western Michigan University last spring.

Johanna Long ’01 Lauck of Camby, Ind., is a librarian for Avon-Washington Township Public Library in Avon, Ind. She earned a Master of Library Science degree in May 2013 at Indiana University, Purdue University, Indianapolis.

Ethel Groat ’00 and Rodney Massing of Fort Wayne, Ind., married on Sept. 1, 2013.

Carrie and Matt Haren ’02 of Fort Wayne, Ind., welcomed Noble Flynn Haren, born June 25, 2013. Matt is assistant principal and athletic director for Blackhawk Middle School in Fort Wayne Community Schools.

Doug and Lori Agness ’03 Bennett of McCordsville, Ind., married in April 2009 and have a son, Abraham.

Christopher and Megan Hineline ’04 Sutton of Fort Wayne, Ind., married June 22, 2013, in Traverse City, Mich.

Joseph and Jenna Baumle ’05 DeCraene of Fort Wayne, Ind., welcomed a daughter, Hannah Elizabeth, on Sept. 26, 2012. Jenna is a certified athletic trainer for Dr. John C. Pritchard, sports medicine surgeon and specialist, at Ortho NorthEast (ONE) in Fort Wayne.

Brianna Martin ’05 Hursey of Indianapolis is studying for a Master of Occupational Therapy degree at the University of Indianapolis.

Wendy Matheny ’05 of Menlo Park, Calif., is a leadership development analyst for the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco. She received a Master of Public Policy degree at Duke University’s Sanford School of Public Policy in spring 2013. Wendy and Navid Samadani-McQuirk married in October 2010.

Shelley and Matt Townsend ’05 of Brownsburg, Ind., welcomed a daughter, Allison Jane, born Sept. 23, 2013.

Adam ’05 and Elizabeth Weybright ’06 Augustine of Claypool, Ind., welcomed a daughter, Charlotte LeeAnne, born March 15, 2013.

Matthew Spiess ’06 of Lansing, Mich., is a certified athletic trainer for Sparrow Clinton Hospital in Lansing.

Jake Huffman ’06 and his wife Angela of Fort Worth, Texas, welcomed their first child, Cole Brooks, on July 9, 2013.

Gabriel Tribbett ’06 of Pierceton, Ind., is director of life education and leadership development for Christ’s Covenant Church in Winona Lake, Ind.

Ashley Libben ’07 of Albion, Ind., is serving with the Holocaust and Jewish Resistance Teachers Program created by Warsaw ghetto resistance fighter Vladka Meed. Last summer, Libben began her studies at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C., with other educators from around the country. Her studies will take her to Germany, Poland and the Czech Republic.

Holly Smith ’07 of Fort Wayne, Ind., welcomed a daughter, Aurora Faith, on Jan. 25, 2013.

Dante Dali ’08 of Des Moines, Iowa, is completing his surgery residency at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. He is a graduate of Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine, receiving the top award for student surgery.

Michael Poe and Fiona Mills-Groninger ’08 of Urbana, Ill., welcomed Randal Darwin, born May 21, 2013.

Erin McComas ’08 O’Donnell of Indianapolis is an assistant director of undergraduate admissions for Indiana University, Purdue University Indianapolis. She earned a master’s in sports public relations management in May 2012 at IUPUI. Erin and Scott O’Donnell married in May 2011.

Wesley ’09 and Meghan Siroky ’09 Atkins of Mishawaka, Ind., welcomed daughter, Jayde Elizabeth, on Sept. 4, 2012.

Natasha Wine Miller ’09 Bragg of Indianapolis is a licensed social worker for Geriatric Resources for Assessment and Care of Elders, a new model of primary care for low-income seniors. She earned a Master of Social Work degree in May 2011 at George Warren Brown School of Social Work at Washington University in St. Louis. She married Ross Bragg in 2011 and they welcomed a daughter, Coraline, in July 2012.

Paul K. Strode ’91 of Boulder, Colo., received the 2013 Evolution Education Award of the National Association of Biology Teachers in recognition of his innovative classroom teaching and community education efforts to promote accurate understanding of biological evolution. Dr. Strode teaches biology at Fairview High School in Boulder. His work includes the book Why Evolution Works (and Creationism Fails).

Timothy Demchak ’92 of Terre Haute, Ind., received the Faculty Outstanding Engagement Award of Indiana State University’s College of Nursing, Health and Human Services for his leadership in starting a free Orthopedic Rehabilitation Center. The center is at St. Ann Medical Center for the poor, a medical clinic and mission of the Sister of Providence of St. Mary-of-the-Woods College. Demchak is an associate professor, physician faculty, in the University’s Department of Applied Medicine and Rehabilitation. An athletic trainer for 19 years, he has a doctorate in exercise physiology.

Randy Dormans ’92 of Canyon Country, Calif., is supervising producer for CG Television Production at DreamWorks Animation in Glendale, Calif. He formerly was a supervising producer for Nickelodeon.

David Finney ’93 of Plymouth, Ind., is a regional operations manager for Praxair, which provides efficiency, energy and environmental advantages to customers worldwide. He earned a Master of Industrial Distribution degree at Texas A&M University on May 10, 2013.

Jeffrey Sizemore ’93 of Milwaukee, Wis., is a senior mortgage loan originator for Network Funding LP, a residential mortgage company specializing in the origination, sale and servicing of residential mortgage loans.

Lisa Hohenberger ’94 Potter of Toledo, Ohio, is an early childhood services intervention specialist for Wood County Educational Service Center in Toledo. She and husband Steve Potter welcomed a son, Emmett Douglas, on June, 23, 2013.

Dean Johnson ’96 of West Chester, Pa., is an assistant professor of philosophy for West Chester University in Pennsylvania. The activist-scholar teaches classes in peace and conflict studies as well as religious studies.

Misty Fite ’98 Dyer of Noblesville, Ind., is a senior territory manager for Kimberly Clark.

Betsy Nottoli ’98 Woods of Fairborn, Ohio, is director of communication for the School of Advertising Art in Kettering, Ohio. She is responsible for public relations and social media strategies, admissions appointments and teaching professional communications courses.

Robyn Boettner ’99 of Baltimore, Md., is a case manager supervisor at Chase Brexton Health Services in Baltimore.


Edith Rohrer ’80 of Warsaw, Ind., received a 2013 Teacher Creativity Fellowship from Lilly Endowment Inc. to attend kilt school last summer at the Keith Kilt and Textile Centre in the Scottish Highlands, where she hand-tailored a custom-made kilt. She teaches family and consumer sciences for Edgewood Middle School in Warsaw.

Vikki Vinton ’81 Epstein of Newark, Del., is a senior compliance officer for ING Financial Partners, auditing ING investment broker offices in northeast United States. She has Series 24, 7 and 63 securities licenses.

Steve Viehweg ’82 of Greenfield, Ind., is the Indiana Act Early Ambassador, appointed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. He represents the CDC in improving early intervention practices. A licensed clinical social worker, Viehweg for 23 years has served as associate director of the Riley Child Development Center for the Indiana University School of Medicine in Riley Hospital for Children.

Korrine Gust ’83aa of Lake Stevens, Wash., is University of Puget Sound intern coordinator supervisor for Western Washington University. She is a former assistant professor of education and director of the Master of Education program at Manchester University.

Mary Boudreau ’84 of Lansing, Mich., has completed the accelerated Masters of Nursing Science program at the University of Michigan in Flint. She completed certification as an adult-gerontology primary care nurse practitioner, with a course in cross-cultural nursing practice in Kenya.

Beth Messner ’84 of Muncie, Ind., received Ball State University's Outstanding Diversity Advocate Award. This award is given annually to a faculty member who demonstrates excellence in championing the cause of diversity through research, curricular development, teaching, grantsmanship and service. She is an associate professor of communication studies.

Mike Robertson ’85 of Zionsville, Ind., was among 24 participants in the Performance Atlantic Cycling Tours Elite Transcontinental, cycling from San Diego to Tybee Island, Ga., in just 17 days. He is an accountant with Robertson & Associates in Zionsville.

Amy Smith ’87 Richards of Columbia City, Ind., was recognized for 25 years of teaching by Whitko Community School Corp. in May 2013. She teaches family and consumer sciences.


Barry Hoff and David Carson ’70 of New York, N.Y., married April 19, 2013, on the stage of The Palace Theatre in New York City.

Gerald Rhoades ’70 of Harrisburg, Pa., retired after 29 years as director of community ministries for the Harrisburg First Church of the Brethren.

Linda Crill ’71 of Reston, Va., has authored a new book, Blind Curves, One Woman’s Unusual Journey to Reinvent Herself and Answer: What Now? Alumni artist Kevin L. Miller ’71 illustrated the book. Learn more at

Doris Airgood ’71 Stephenson of North Manchester, will retire from Manchester University on July 30, 2014 as systems and science librarian after 38 years with the institution.

Stephen Bowne ’74 of Sharpsville, Ind., teaches adult basic education for Marion Community Schools in Marion, Ind.

Jim Colon ’74 of Palos Verdes Peninsula, Calif., was honored by The Los Angeles Wave publication in October 2013 as a “Mover and Shaker” among Los Angeles’ most influential African-Americans for his commitment to excellence, service to Los Angeles and the many lives he has touched. He is vice president of product communications for Toyota Motor Sales and a member of the Board of Trustees of Manchester University.

Steve George ’74 of Middlebury, Ind., is retired after 38 years with Middlebury Community Schools. He served as a physical education teacher, coach and athletic director.

David Schmidt ’75 of Salem, Ore., is a physician informatician for the Integrated Electronic Health Record Project, a massive joint effort to unify, optimize and standardize the health record systems of the Veterans Administration and the Department of Defense. He recently completed his sixth military call to active duty since 2005 as an Army reserve physician, serving as chief of medicine for the 349th Combat Support Hospital.

Phillip Erbaugh ’76 of Brookville, Ohio, displayed his oil paintings at two solo art shows last summer at the Pump House Center for the Arts in Chillicothe, Ohio, and the Preble County Fine Arts Center in Eaton, Ohio. Learn more about Erbaugh and his work at

Cynthia Heckman-Davis ’77 of Walkerton, Ind., is the 2013 Family Physician of the Year of the Indiana Academy of Family Physicians for exemplifying the family doctor tradition. Dr. Heckman-Davis is with Lakeville Family Medicine, an affiliate of Memorial Medical Group.

Steven Thornton ’77 of Elkhart, Ill., has received the national Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Award for demonstrating the Arnold P. Gold Foundation’s ideals of outstanding compassion in the delivery of care, respect for patients, their families and healthcare colleagues, and demonstrated clinical excellence. Thornton is an assistant professor of clinical psychiatry for the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria. He joined the faculty of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine in 2008.

Michael Carney ’78 of Hixson, Tenn., is a menswear consultant for Belk Department Stores of Charlotte, N.C. He serves in outreach ministry for battered women for St. Alban's Episcopal Church in Grundy County, Tenn.


Bob Knechel ’66 of Kettering, Ohio, has retired as president and CEO of the Collectors Foundation, promoting the interest in collector vehicles and funding education and training for the next generation of collector car and classic boat restorers and enthusiasts. He and wife Gail Evans ’69x Knechel moved from Traverse City, Mich., to Kettering to be closer to children and grandchildren.

Carol Miller ’66 of Fort Wayne, Ind., invites alumni to visit the Miller Barn Room in the North Manchester Center for History in downtown North Manchester. The exhibit – a gift from the late Harold D. Miller’s children – contains more than 1,200 farm items restored to their original condition. Carol is writing farm pet stories from the 1950s for elementary field trips to the museum. Her siblings are Rosemary Miller ‘62 Rouch Pletcher, Richard Miller ‘64 and Joann Miller Wing.

Mark Butterworth ’68 of Muscatine, Iowa, has received a patent for a ball bearing pivot wheel support system used to repair clocks with worn wheel pivots. He also is the inventor of a recently patented LED package with a rounded square lens instead of a hemispherical lens.

Donna Holsopple ’69 Myers of Toledo, Ohio, has retired from 31 years of teaching elementary music, 27 for St. Joan of Arc Catholic Elementary School in Toledo. She continues to serve as keyboard musician for Church of the Cross United Methodist Church in Toledo.


Gene E. Likens ’57 of Clinton Corners, N.Y., was featured in a Sept. 13 NPR story, Rivers On Rolaids: How Acid Rain Is Changing Waterways. Dr. Likens, who is credited with the discovery of acid rain and linking it to air pollution in North America, is co-founder of the Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies.

Wendell Dilling ’58 of Midland, Mich., leapt, threw and dashed to many silver and bronze medals in the Men’s 75-79 age group at the 2013 Michigan Senior Olympics. He also presented a poster paper at the September 2013 National Meeting & Exposition of the American Chemical Society in Indianapolis. A 1954 Central High School (North Manchester) graduate, he received the Manchester Community Schools Distinguished Alumni Award.
