Athletics Hall of Fame
Inducted into the Athletics Hall of Fame this year were Curtis Nordman ’14, Michael Stocker ’14, Jessica Bremer ’11, Dr. Mark Huntington ’76, and the 2013 baseball team.

Nordman was a three-time All Great Lakes Region Honoree in cross country and helped lead Manchester to Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) cross country championships in 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013. He was the 2013 HCAC Men’s Runner of the Year.

Stocker was a Great Lakes All Region Honoree in cross country, four-time HCAC Champion, and holds Manchester’s record in the Distance Medley Relay. Like Nordman, he helped lead Manchester to HCAC championships in 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013.

Bremer was a two-time Great Lakes All Region Honoree in cross country, NCAA Division III National Qualifier in the 800m in both indoor and outdoor track and field, and the Manchester record holder in the 800m and 4x800m Relay. She helped lead Manchester to HCAC cross country championships in 2009, 2010, and 2011.

Huntington became Manchester’s first certified athletic trainer in 1984 and was head athletic trainer until 2000. He was a leader in the development of Manchester’s athletic training and exercise science curricula.

The 2013 baseball team were HCAC regular season and tournament champions and made an appearance in the NCAA Division III College World Series.

Alumni Honor Awards
Three Manchester graduates were celebrated at this year’s Alumni Honor Awards during Homecoming 2023.
Philip Joseph receiving an award
Philip Joseph ’64 received an Alumni Honor Award for his lifelong artistic passion and public service. He has won many awards at regional and national levels, and his paintings are in more than 100 public institutions and corporate collections.
Steve Mock receiving an award
Steve Mock ’77 received an Alumni Honor Award for his work at the University of Montana Western and dedication to rock and mountain climbing. He led UMW’s adoption of an innovative new academic curriculum, which earned him the 2013 Mike Malone Educator of the Year Award. He has also been an avid climber for several decades, and his reputation landed him the position of director of the Khumbu Climbing Center in Nepal.

Alex Downard ’20 received a Young Alumni Impact Award for his leadership in Wabash County. He currently leads the Imagine One 85 initiative for Grow Wabash County. The plan includes initiatives relating to housing, workforce, early childhood education, rural broadband and other quality of life opportunities to arrest and reverse the county’s population decline.
