1960s Phil Joseph ’64 received an Alumni Honor Award from Manchester University at Homecoming 2023, the highest recognition the Alumni Association can bestow on a graduate of Manchester University.

Janis Clark ’69 Johnston recently published Transforming Retirement: Rewire and Grow Your Legacy. She surveyed 125 individuals aged 55-96 to learn their definitions of retirement and to understand how they spend their time. Several of those surveyed were graduates of Manchester.

1970s David Eicher ’76 was honored as a Fellow of the Hymn Society in the United States and Canada for his work as a hymnbook editor and as a promoter of congregational song. David is a church musician and organist who has served in several positions of leadership within the Presbyterian Association of Musicians. He was recently editor of Glory to God (2013), the most recent hymn of the Presbyterian Church in the United States.

Mark Huntington ’76 was inducted into the Manchester University Athletics Hall of Fame at Homecoming 2023.

Steve Mock ’77 received an Alumni Honor Award from Manchester University at Homecoming 2023, the highest recognition the Alumni Association can bestow on a graduate of Manchester University. Steve also recently received the National Park Service’s George and Helen Hartzog Award for Outstanding Service for his excellence in service as a Denali National Park mountaineering ranger in Alaska.

1980s Jane Keuneke ’85 Klemm is now the CFO of Entheos Audiology Cooperative, Inc. headquartered in Fort Wayne.

Karen Myers-Bowman ’86 became Dean of the College of Education at California State University, Monterey Bay.

Mark Cawood ’87 received the Dean’s Distinguished Lecturer Award from Clemson University.

1990s Rachel Walter ’96 Montel of Garrett, Ind., has been teaching 7th grade writing at Garrett Middle School since January 2022.

2000s Monica Rice ’04 Frye became the director of development and constituent relations at The Cedars Retirement Community in McPherson, Kan. In March she married Dr. Timothy Frye.

Travis Poling ’06 currently resides in Richmond, Ind. In Spring 2023 he earned a Master of Arts in English from Miami University of Ohio with emphasis in American Literature and Environmental Humanities. Since earning his masters, he has been freelance writing for Western Wayne News.
